Kindred People: Our Story

Before it was a reality, Kindred People was a place that we visited in our daydreams. It began as an eclectic smattering of thoughts, ideas and feelings we drew from influential and creative women, pop culture, girls day shopping trips, a bond between mother and daughter and a love for Northern Minnesota. It was our vision to create a space where people felt a sense of belonging in their experience and in the items they found in our shop. Kindred People opened its doors for the first time on May 4, 2015 in Alexandria, Minnesota. From the very beginning, it has challenged, connected and changed us in the best ways. Kindred People has always been about people and has been built and influenced by each individual that has come to our doorstep.

Quality Apparel and Styling.

You will find our brick and mortar stores in the beautiful and bustling downtown districts of Alexandria, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota. Our flagship store in Alexandria was expanded from our original build-out and remodeled in 2020. Stepping into our Alexandria shop off of Sixth Avenue, you will be met with a fresh, airy boho vibe with natural wood and clean black accents. Our second location just steps from the Fargo Theatre Marquee on Broadway, opened in Downtown Fargo, North Dakota on August 2, 2017. This shop has an urban industrial vibe with a bohemian flair in its accents. Our shops feature women's clothing, accessories, shoes, beauty, home goods and gifts, all hand picked by us in markets across the country or crafted by local and regional artists. It is our mission to curate unique clothing, accessory and gift collections that inspire confidence and a sense of comfort, to create original events that bring our communities together and to support others through collaboration and providing a platform to launch.
